After more than 25 years in financial services, Anthony Peebles made the career switch over to Advancement. While there are many altruistic donors, Anthony has been focused on the business case for supporting CWRU across many academic departments. Additionally, over the past year, corporations, at the C-suite level, have been finding ways to partner with the University to drive real change – on the campus and in the community.

Anthony is active with AADO’s Men of Color in Development group and highlights how being involved with MOCID helps him grow professionally and personally.

Conversation with Jen Howe, VP of University Advancement, University of Dayton

Jen Howe has been leading the Advancement team at the University of Dayton (UD) for nearly 5 years. Her team’s focus on partnerships, both on campus and in the community, allowed for increased connectivity with donors, even though the challenge of Covid protocols restricting in-person interactions. In 5 years, UD has doubled the amount of annual giving to the University to nearly $50 million.

Jenn believes mentors pushed her toward her “deep water” but supported her in the new assignments and responsibilities that helped expand her professional skill sets. Jenn and her team have the University of Dayton Advancement “Flying High.”

Patrick Johnson, Vice President of Institutional Advancement at Meharry Medical College has had a varied career in development – in healthcare, private HBCUs, public state institutions, even as a talent recruiter and strategist for Campbell & Company.  In our conversation Patrick highlights the different aspects of each job and how each experience provided him the framework to return back to Meharry Medical College to lead its Advancement shop.
